At this Mar. 6, 1961 game, the host Spartans beat sixth-ranked Iowa with superstar Don Nelson, 74-64.

MSU's starting lineup, coached by Forddy Anderson, included Dick Hall, Ted Williams, Dave Fahs, Art Schwarm, and Jack Lamers.

Iowa's starting lineup, coached by Sharm Scheuerman, included the future Hall of Famer Nelson, Dennis Runge, Matt Szykowny, Joel Novak and Joe Reddington.
