1961 Michigan State v. Ohio State basketball program
At this Jan. 3, 1959 game, the host Spartans were defeated by Ohio State, 83-62. The Buckeyes went undefeated in Big Ten play and finished with a 27-1 record, losing only to Cincinnati in the NCAA Championship Game.
MSU's starting lineup, coached by Forddy Anderson, included Jack Lamers, Dick Hall, Ted Williams, Dave Fahs and Art Schwarm.
Ohio State's starting lineup, coached by Fred Taylor, included John Havlicek, Jerry Lucas, Mel Nowell, Larry Siegfried and Richie Hoyt. Bob Knight came off the bench for the Buckeyes.
