At this March 3, 1951 game, the host Spartans lost to Iowa, 65-52.

MSU's starting lineup, coached by Pete Newell, included Bill Bower, Ray Steffen, Bob Carey, Sonny Means and Gordon Stauffer.

Iowa's starting lineup, coached by Rollie Williams, included Chuck Darling, Murray Rost, Bob Clifton, Frank Calsbeek and Herb Thompson.
