The 1972 MHSA Tournament semifinals and finals included Classes A, B, C and D, and were all played at Michigan State University's Jenison Field House.

Class A -- Flint Northern H.S. (with Coach Bill Frieder, Wayman Britt & Terry Furlow) and Pontiac Central H.S. (with Larry Russell and Larry Cole).

Class B -- Muskegon Heights H.S. (with Tony Smith) and River Rouge H.S. (with Coach Lofton Greene & Leighton Moulton)

Class C -- Saginaw St. Stephen H.S. (with Elijan Coates) and Shelby H.S. (with Paul Griffin)

Class D -- Ewen-Trout Creek H.S. and Flint Holy Rosary H.S.
