Signed color photo -- Best Wishes Stan Musial

Included in the professionally framed 19" x 15" piece besides the signed photo is a full-page clipping from The Sporting News that highlights his final Major League game (Sept. 29, 1963). Stan the Man's two hits that day game him a career total of 3,630. He retired with a .331 career batting average.

Stan Musial--in full Stanley Frank Musial, byname Stan the Man--(born November 21, 1920—died January 19, 2013), in his 22-year playing career with the St. Louis Cardinals won seven National League batting championships and established himself as one of the game’s greatest hitters.

AUTHENTICATION - About 50 years ago, when I first began collecting sports memorabilia, I discovered Jack Smalling's very first baseball autograph collectors handbook (the original was mimeographed--I still have it). Nearly every day, as a high school teenager, I would check off five-to-ten names on my list. I'd write each player (mostly retired players) a brief customized letter, enclose five 3x5 index cards or sometimes a Sporting News clipping, and also--most importantly--a self-addressed stamped envelope (stamps were a nickel in those days). Nearly every day, I would receive four or five prizes in the mailbox, sometimes with five signed cards, sometimes with just one. One out of twenty would even enclose a HOF Plaque card or a small autographed photo. The item you're considering here was one of those items.
